How do I apply?
Camper applications for the summer of 2009 will be available by April 1, 2009. If you have any questions please call the Camp Recruiters at 612/338-1233, ext. 11 or sabraham@YouthCAREmn.org.

Who can go?
Youth 13-18 years old who live in Minneapolis or St. Paul.

What's it all about?
Camp Sunrise is a program of YouthCARE that brings together youth and adults from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds in a rustic overnight camping experience. Camp Sunrise has a 33-year history - over 10,000 youth have participated in the program! Check out the photos on this website!

What will I do at camp?
The week at Camp Sunrise is jamm-packed with lots of exciting activities!
§ Learn camping skills - no experience needed!
§ Canoe on the St. Croix river
§ Shoot hoops, play soccer & volleyball
§ Go fishing & hiking
§ Learn teamwork & leadership skills
§ Make new friends
§ Earn community service hours
§ Eat good food! The Camp Sunrise cooks will accommodate all campers' dietary needs including pork-free, dairy free, vegetarian and allergies.

Where is it?
Camp Sunrise is located along the beautiful St. Croix River (5 miles east of Rush City, MN). It is about 1 hour north of the Twin Cities. Transportation is provided to and from camp.

What do I need to bring?

Once we receive your completed application, we will send you a list of things to bring. Mostly you will need to bring only your personal items like clothes, shoes, toothbrush, towel, etc. We have sleeping bags, flashlights, bug spray, all the necessary camping gear to make your week at Camp Sunrise something to remember.

How much does it cost?
Camp Sunrise is offered FREE OF CHARGE. This opportunity is made possible by charitable contributions from foundations, corporations and individuals. YouthCARE is committed to making the summer camp experience accessible to Minneapolis and Saint Paul youth.

Why should I go?
Because:
1. You will meet new friends, have fun learning new skills and find a place where you feel like you belong.
2. Camp Sunrise is FREE!
3. At the end of your session, you will receive a certificate for 28 hours of Community Service!
*You can apply these hours toward school credit, include them on your resume or college application.
4. What else are you going to do during the long days of summer?
5. BONUS: all Camp Sunrise campers will be invited to attend school-year activities like roller skating, gym nights, dances and more. Come to camp and get your name on the list!

Community Service?
Camp Sunrise is a cooperative program. This means that everyone -campers, staff, and volunteers- help out around camp to ensure we all have a good time.

Examples of community service include:
§ Help prepare & clean-up after meals
§ Adopt-A-River - help keep the St. Croix River clean for everyone to use
§ Maintain hiking trails or do environmental projects
§ Help our garden grow!
