Summer Volunteering Opportunities

YouthCARE/Camp Sunrise has many volunteer opportunities this summer!

VolunteerHelp Provide Rides in Minneapolis & St. Paul
We need help providing transportation for our campers on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings. Generally, there are 10-15 campers every week who need help getting to the camp bus stop and home again after their camp session. Rides are between 12 p.m.-1 p.m. on Fridays and 8:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Cook A Meal
Come up for a day or just a couple hours and help prepare a meal for a bunch of silly campers and staff. Cooking in the camp kitchen is fun and you’ll always be working with other camp staff. Have a special recipe? We’ll help you prepare it for camp if you’re up for the challenge! There are lots of other “behind the scenes” projects. Wilderness Trips!
Participate in a Camp Sunrise canoe or hiking trip. Groups of 6-8 youth ages 13-18 and two adult staff members plan their trip on their first day at camp. These three-day, two-night canoe or hiking trips begin on the second or third day of camp. Let us know if you want more info on being involved in all or part of one of our trips this summer.

Share Your KnowledgeShare Your Knowledge
Do you know how to fish? Are you interested in restoring an old canoe? There are lots of opportunities for special one-day to multi-day projects with groups of youth. We have a couple ideas already, but we are always open to more!

Activities at Little Earth and McDonough
We’ll have activities four days per week at Little Earth of United Tribes in Minneapolis and McDonough Townhomes in St. Paul. We are looking for volunteers to co-lead activities, help with rides, recruitment, and to build relationships and connections with the community.
