The Junior Counselor Program employs eight youth ages 16 - 18 from diverse ethnic, cultural, and racial backgrounds to live and work together at Camp Sunrise. The focus of the program is leadership development through employment training, counselling skills, and outdoor living experiences. The Counselor In Training (CIT) Program provides alumni Junior Counselors with a "step up the leadership ladder". CITs continue to develope their leadership and counselling skills in working with youth and adults from diverse ethnic, cultural, and racial backgrounds. During the 10 week summer program CITs gain valuable experience and strengthen their knowledge about outdoor/camping skills, leadership, the environment, cultural awareness, and peer counselling skills. In addition, CITs serve as active role models for campers and Junior Counselors at Camp Sunrise.
