Blaine Lions Club

2006 Holiday Appeal
Thank you to everyone who donated in support of YouthCARE's 2006 Holiday Appeal. We are happy to report that we raised over $39,000 (a 96% increase from 2005 and a 285% increase from 2004)! REI Donates $5,000 to Camp Sunrise!
	On December 27, 2006, a group of YouthCARE participants and staff was invited to the REI store in Bloomington, MN to accept a $3,000 check and over $2,000 in REI brand camping supplies. In addition, REI staff will be visiting Camp Sunrise this summer to train camp staff and participants in the seven principles of Leave No Trace camping. This training is made possible through REI's PEAK (Promoting Environmental Awareness in Kids) Program.

MN Film Arts- 6th Annual Sound Unseen Festival

Thank you to Gretchen Williams, the 2005 Sound Unseen Festival staff, and to Minnesota Film Arts for donating film passes to YouthCARE and the Young Women's Mentoring Program. Youth Mentors gave rave reviews to "La Fabrik-K/The Cuban Hip-Hop Factory," a film about hip hop and community politics in Cuba as well as to "Favela Rising," a film that discusses the intersections of grass roots cultural movements and afro-reggae music in Brazil. MN Film Arts has been "brining movies to Minnesota masses for 42 years." Be sure to mark your calendars for their 24th Annual Minneapolis-St. Paul International Film Festival, April 7-22, 2006.

Thank you to the IBM Corporation for their generous equipment grant of a new server configuration! This grant is very important to YouthCARE and we greatly appreciate the opportunity to implement a much needed technology upgrade at YouthCARE-our current server is about ten years old!
