Glendale Youth Mentors

Lul

Hi, my name is Lul and I am a Youth Mentor at the Glendale Homes community. Some of the fun things I like to do are read, sleep and watch movies. I love learning new things.

Yolanda

Hi , everybody my name is Yolanda and I am a Youth Mentor at the Glendale Homes community. I work with YouthCARE in the Young Women's Mentoring Program. I am 16 yrs old. I attend Urban League Academy High School. The Young Women's Mentoring Program has helped me learn to get along with girls from other races who are just as strong and powerful as anybody else. The YWMP has had a big impact on my life. It has helped me meet, learn and care for many people. I have come to know that I have younger girls looking up to me. The most fun thing about being a Youth Mentor is that I can relate to the younger girls and give them feedback and advice. My plans after High School are to become Americas Next Top Model. I want to thank everybody for being there for me and giving me advice. Until next time America!

Sharmine

My name is Sharmine and I am a Youth Mentor at Glendale. I go to Patrick Henry High School and I love hot wings, pizza, and tacos. If I had a superpower it would be the ability to draw anything because I love to draw and want to be an artist.

Ishwaq

Hi, my name is Ishwaq and I am a Youth Mentor in the Glendale Homes community. I am 17 years old and attend Rosevelt High School. I will graduate in 2009. Being a Mentor has made me feel like a leader and a responsible adult.

Little Earth Youth Mentors

Tawhnee

Hi, my name is Tawhnee and I'm a Youth Mentor at Little Earth of United Tribes. I attend South High School and am 15 years old. The thing I like most about working with the Young Women's Mentoring Program is the fun activities we do with the girls in our Groups.

Nikki

Hi, my name is Nikki and I work at Little Earth with Girls Group and Adventure Girls. I'm 18 years old and attend Center School. If I could be anyone for the day, I'd be the president because then I could do anything.

Ashley (left)

My name is Ashley and I work for the Young Women's Mentoring Program. My community site is Little Earth of United Tribes. I love working with the girls and young women in our program because they are exciting and fun. I want to show them a positive perspective in life. I'm looking forward to the rest of the year.

McDonough Youth Mentors

Iris (right)

I am named after a beautiful flower, Iris, the purple flower. I am a Youth Mentor at McDonough Homes. I love working with kids, being wild, and I love learning! I'm always laughing and I'm always optimistic. What else would you expect from a beautiful flower?

Youa (left)
Hi, my name is Youa and I am from the St. Paul McDonough site. I work with YouthCARE in the Young Women's Mentoring Program. This year I hope to meet lots of young girls and help them enjoy our year together.

Anquinetta

I attend Highland Park Sr. High School and work at our McDonough Homes site. The most important thing I learned about being a Youth Mentor is gaining a relationship with the girls so they can learn from you and you can learn from them. Also, listening to them and understanding where they come from. After high school, I plan to go to college for business management and fashion design.
